I predominantly praise the Japanese animators and Manga artists for their efforts in creating sensational animated shows and Mangas. The Japanese Animation Industry had successfully earned its worldwide adoration by producing quality shows that can be watched by variable age groups. Above all the existing multifariousness in the genres of Japanese animation had played a crucial role in attracting mature audiences from different corners of the world.

A couple of days back, I finished watching the first season of an awe-inspiring sports anime. It gave me the ‘Hajime no Ippo vibes’ (a boxing anime that is still underrated but it’s too good). It’s ‘Haikyu’ which impressed me to an extent that I find Volleyball to be an interesting sport to stick with (Though I never played volleyball in my life). Anyways as the title suggests “Haikyuu” will spark your curiosity in volleyball because of its unforgettable inspiring moments that will teach you about teamwork, diligence, internal weaknesses, and other life lessons. The core of the entire series is to impel you to work hard enough to overcome all sorts of problems lying on the path to glory, volleyball is just a medium through which the creators tried to express this particular message to the viewers.

Basic info:

a)     Haikyu is a sports manga written and illustrated by Hairuichi Furudate. It has 45 tanakabon volumes.

b)     The story revolves around a disoriented high school volleyball team named ‘Karasuno high’ who starts off their journey of greatness by playing various volleyball matches.

Some of the positive aspects of the show:

1)     A competently designed sports anime with loads of intriguing moments: Despite having a mediocre storyline this show will not make the viewers feel dull or unconcerned for a minute because of its well-written dialogues and indelible scenes that will make the viewers glued to their seats till the completion of the finale episode of the series.

2)     Character development made this show a success: Other than the strong competition, the makers of Haikyuu properly executed the idea of providing an impressive and meticulous development of the characters so that the viewers can strongly connect with the personas present in the show. Every character has their own strength and vulnerability, the manner in which they struggle hard to overcome their problems made the show more than a relevant sports anime.

3)     As usual, the animation made the show lustrously impressive: It will be a grave sin for me if I didn’t praise the animation of the show. The efforts put forth by the makers to provide a visually good anime did turn out to be a success. Whether it was the display of jaw-dropping volleyball moves (that covered up 70% of the show) or few of the comic scenes. Both these features made the show worthy enough to be widely praised by the anime fandom.

Unquestionably, Haikyuu is a must-watch series that can’t be skipped by any hardcore anime fans. With an amazing representation of Volleyball, this anime will hook you up for long.

Haikyu is available on Netflix.
