Romantic tales have significant prospects to draw the attention of the young generations by its irresistible stories associated with the couples. Some passionate stories end up with an emotional note whereas some romantic stories put a smile on our faces.

Japanese animation industry had given countless series and movies related to romance, love, and life. Due to this sagacious adaptation of human feelings in various animated shows, the Japanese animation industry has successfully established a humongous fan-base of different age–groups.

Latterly, I finished watching a ‘Rom-com’ series named ‘TORADORA’ which was a usual high-school Romance stuff but it was surprisingly ravishing in terms of storyline assisted by figurative and allegorical dialogues.

‘TORADORA’ falls partially in the ‘slice of life’  genre that exhibits a beautiful tale of a high school duo joining hands to help each other in winning the hearts of their respective love interests. Though it was the peripheral facet of the story which forms the exterior of the entire show, its, profound quality was the strong display of concealed feelings and the impediments that fall in the path of a person who strives to express his/her hidden sentiments to someone close to them.

The prime protagonist of the show was Takasu Ryuji (a high school teen who possess the eyes of a gangster) and Aisaka Taiga (a rude, doll-like teen girl). Both these individuals befriend each other despite their irreconcilable attitudes for the sole purpose of assisting each other in winning their respective crushes (love-interest).

Positive features of this film:

1)    The burgeoning of emotions as the story progresses: The development of feelings is unpredictable. Nevertheless, without attraction love is imperfect. The storyline exhibits an unmitigated act of an unanticipated development of feelings and tenderness that takes place between the opposite souls. Ryuji and Taiga confront the same situation but they realize it later during the finale episodes. Despite the sharp contrasting perspective of both the characters they were close like an affectionate couple with suppressed feelings for each other. This perfect chemistry was properly represented in this 25 episode Rom-com which was one of quintessence feature of the entire show.

2)     More than a usual love drama: one of the charming features of this series is that it maintains composure between friendship and love. Side character like Minorin  Kushieda is an exhilarating persona of the series that somehow personifies an exemplary person who attempts to conquer the dilemmas attributed with friendship and love. Her sacrifice for the sake of friendship gave a magical touch to the show. Her frequent practice of addressing Allegorical monologues gave an immaculate opportunity to the viewers to attach themselves with the emotional problems of Minorin. Admit it or not, the presence of Minorin was essential for the success of the show.

3)    A happy ending: “Don’t expect a happy ending from the romantic films made in Japan” this statement is too good to be true. Unusually, TORADORA gave a blithe finish to the show which was sufficient to bring a smile on the faces of the viewers.

It’s been 12 years since this show was aired for the first time. Though many fans demanded a fresh season of TORADORA which wasn’t feasible as the makers covered the entire events of Manga within the limited range of 25 episodes. Some say that this show inspired them as a person some even say that this show gave them the courage to express their suppressed feelings. For me, this show was simply an incredible high school drama that entertained me for a time being.

The show is available on NETFLIX INDIA.
