On the 18th of August, Om Raut gave us an unforgettable surprise by revealing his upcoming film project named ‘Adipurush’. Om Raut made a fantastic debut in Bollywood as a director by directing one of the finest Indian 3D films named Tanhaji. His filmmaking style was exceedingly praised by the Indian audiences and he received recognition for his capabilities as a talented filmmaker from his previous work.

He is back again with a new project and a different theme. His upcoming film project will be based on the almighty Lord Ram and his adventurous journey to extricate Sita from the hands of the evil demon Ravana.

Till now the Indian masses had witnessed numerous versions of Ramayana in various platforms. As a kid, I had witnessed Ramayana in an animated format, which still remains my favourite animated film. Due to my religious upbringing in a Hindu family, I am quite familiar with this beautiful tale and the events surrounding it. But witnessing Ramayana in a 3D format will be a whole new experience.

After executing a remarkable performance in ‘Bahubali’, Uppalapati Venkata Suryanarayana Prabhas Raju popularly known as ‘Prabhas’ in Telugu film Industry is all set to embrace the role of Lord Ram in Adipurush. This decision of hiring Prabhas as the main the protagonist had not only made the Tollywood fans rejoice but it also united the people from the northern and southern region of India for two reasons:

1)     The ‘PRABHAS’ craze in the entire nation after his performance in Bahubali

2)     The theme of the movie is enough to make the fans excited for the film especially Hindus.

Till now the main protagonist, as well as the antagonist, has been selected for the film. Prabhas will adore the role of Lord Ram whereas Saif Ali Khan will embrace the character of Demon king Ravan.

This selection of Saif Ali Khan as Ravan had infuriated a lot of Radical Hindus who showed their disappointment towards the selection of Saif as the main antagonist for the film because he had something inappropriate and infelicitous that hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

To be honest, I don’t care what a person thinks about other religion but I didn’t like his selection for one simple reason.

1)     His height: without any doubt, Saif Ali Khan is getting recognized for his rendition in films and Shows like ‘Sacred Games’, ‘Tanhaji’ but his is physique doesn’t match with the Robust musculature of Dasahanan (Ravan). Above all his height is comparatively less compared to Prabhas due to which it may look a bit absurd.

It would have been better if Om Raut would have selected RANA DAGGUBATI for the role of Ravana. Anyways we can’t behave sceptically without watching the film. Let’s hope for the very best from the filmmaker and his vision to execute his film.

Despite witnessing numerous versions of Ramayana on TV sets, why people are excited about this film?

It’s because ‘Adipurush’ will be the first-ever graphically advanced adaptation of Ramayana which will be made up by the help of Proper CGI supported by fascinating visuals.

Till today, people keep on appreciating the work of Ramanand Sagar for directing the Ramayana TV series which was extremely praised for characterization and dialogue execution. But it was lacking in technicality and the visuals were not impressive compared to today’s style of filmmaking. Back in the 80s, there weren’t enough facilities for computer-generated Imagery in Bollywood.

This film will be a golden opportunity for revolutionizing the historical/religious film genre of Bollywood. I have a lot of expectations from this flick and I hope it will not turn out to be a disappointment.
